The night of March 10, the full Senate confirmed Ian Hoddy Solomon by voice vote to be the Executive Director for the United States at the World Bank. He will replace Eli Whitney Debevoise II.
Ian Solomon was officially nominated for the position in November 2009, though his name was announced in early October. Since President Obama took office, Solomon has been serving as a Senior Advisor to the Treasury Secretary on international and domestic issues. Before that he served in Barack Obama's Senate office as Legislative Council for poverty, economic development, government reform, tax, budget, banking, and finance issues. He has also worked as an Associate Dean at Yale Law School and Chairman of the New Haven Port Authority. He will begin work at the World Bank immediately. BIC looks forward to working with Mr. Solomon throughout his tenure.
Also confirmed were Walter Crawford Jones to be the U.S. Executive Director at the Africa n Development Bank, Leocadia Irine Zak to be Director of the Trade and Development Agency, and Douglas A. Rediker to be U. S. Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund.
