Browse a list of current country directors (includes emails) for borrowing member countries of the World Bank in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Country Director (CD) is the primary World Bank official responsible for managing a country's lending and non-lending portfolio. Particularly in Africa, one CD often oversees operations in more than one borrowing country. In addition to fulfilling this fundamental role, the Director is also responsible for managing country staff and maintaining diplomatic relationships with host governments in coordination with the regional management team (which includes country managers, country coordinators, senior operations officers, sector directors, etc.). In many cases, Country Directors reside and work in one of the countries within their jurisdiction. In certain cases, however, the Country Directors are stationed in Washington, DC. When the CD is located in Washington, the Country Manager or Senior Operations Officer may serve as the senior World Bank official in the borrowing country.
