Although construction of the controversial hydropower project in Uganda began last week, debate continues over the dam's design, cost and impacts. A recent article in the Baltimore Sun provides details.
Scott Calvert, foreign reporter for the Balitmore Sun newspaper, traveled to Uganda earlier this year, researching the controversy surrounding the Bujagali dam. His latest article paints a picture of the enviromental concerns, economic and social costs and development debtates that have plagued the World Bank-backed hydropower project since proponents first attempted to construct the dam years ago.
