On April 29, 2003, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Board of Executive Directors approved a revised Public Information Policy for the Bank.
This approval passed despite a “No” protest vote by the U.S. representative to the Board on the grounds that the revised policy did not go far enough towards transparency at the institution. The Public Information Policy (PIP), as well as the recently revised and approved Independent Recourse Mechanism and Environmental Policy, will be translated “on a progressive basis” into official national languages.
The EBRD's current Public Information Policy was approved by the Board in May 2006. The Bank has moved forward the review of the PIP and is accepting comments until 21 December 2007.
