During the Bank’s disclosure policy review in 2000-2002, BIC actively At both reviews of the disclosure policy in 2001 and 2005, BIC examined the new proposals and gave assessments on Bank’s disclosure practices. The efforts of the World Bank have not been successful in meeting public needs for greater transparency. By promoting further disclosure policy reforms by the World Bank, BIC advocates for the public’s right to know, “participatory development”, and democratic governance by the Bank. BIC joins in with other Civil Society Groups in the Global Transparency Initiative’s creation of Transparency Charter in setting standards for future reform.
