At the Asian Development Bank, each member country is represented by an Executive Director (ED) and Alternate Executive Director (Alt ED). In total, there are 12 EDs and 12 Alternate EDs that form the Bank's Board of Directors. Big shareholder countries like the United States, Japan, and the People's Republic of China have their own Executive Directors. Smaller shareholding countries are clustered together under shared representation.

Citizens of ADB member countries should feel free to contact their ED/Alt ED to share their concerns and complaints. The Board should be responsive to and accountable for the citizens of the countries they represent. It is therefore important that more civil society groups approach them and ask them to address their concerns.
