This hearing: "Combating Multilateral Development Bank Corruption: U.S. Treasury Role and Internal Efforts" is the third in recent months related to corruption at these institutions.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing on "Combating Multilateral Development Bank Corruption: U.S. Treasury Role and Internal Efforts" on Wednesday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. in Senate Dirksen 419. The hearing will be presided by Senator Richard Lugar. Witnesses will include

This hearing is the third in recent months related to Multilateral Development Bank oversight, demonstrating increasing concern in Congress about the need to address corruption in Multilateral Development Bank lending. At a hearing held on May 13, 2004 Manish Bapna, Executive Director of the Bank Information Center, gave testimony regarding MDB corruption on behalf of several civil society organizations.
