The World Bank provided only two days advance notice to Indian civil society organizations for a consultation on the Bank’s disclosure policy review. On June 3, the Bank’s office in New Delhi sent invitations to Indian groups for a consultation on June 5.
The Bank has been conducting disclosure review consultations since early April, however the date for the Delhi consultation was inexplicably not determined until this week.
Upon receiving the invitation, the Coordinator of the Delhi Forum, Vijayan MJ, replied to the Bank:
“Before i get time to read through the WB Disclosure policy draft, etc, let me point out that giving two days notice for what you are referring to as 'WB's comprehensive review of its Disclosure Policy', is nothing but an insult to the effort itself. Probably this is what you should start with in 'review', taking people for granted!”
