BIC releases first report on Afghanistan

This report summarizes World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and International Monetary Fund activities in Afghanistan post-9/11.

Through a grant from the Ford Foundation BIC is examining IFI reengagement in Afghanistan, project implementation, community participation in these projects, and IFI adherence to their social and environmental policies as well as their development objectives. BIC is also working with NGOs and civil society to increase knowledge of IFI-funded activities and to promote their participation in the development process. BIC is also examining linkages between IFI operations and U.S. strategic interests in the post-9/11 period. The following is BIC's first report for this initiative:
