Graeme Wheeler and Juan Jose Daboub appointed World Bank Managing Directors

World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz has appointed Graeme Wheeler and Juan Jose Daboub World Bank Managing Directors.

Wheeler was named Acting Manager Director following Shengman Zhang's departure last January. Before joining the World Bank in 1997, Wheeler was the Deputy Secretary to the New Zealand Treasury and also has experience as Treasurer of the New Zealand Debt Management Office. Daboub has previously served as Finance Minister of El Salvador.

As the position has previously been held by only one person, work will need to be done to parcel out the Managing Director's responsibilities to both Wheeler and Daboub. Dadoub will work with Wheeler to define their respective roles prior to his officially assuming his new post on July 1.

The Managing Director oversees the organization's network and regional vice-presidencies.
