BIC seeks full time admin/finance assistant for Delhi-based South Asia office

The Assistant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative and financial operations of the New Delhi office.

The Bank Information Center (BIC) is an non-governmental organization (NGO) which partners with civil society in developing and transition countries to influence the World Bank and other international financial institutions (IFIs) to promote social and economic justice and ecological sustainability. BIC is an independent, non-profit organization that advocates for the protection of rights, participation, transparency, and public accountability in the governance and operations of the World Bank, regional development banks such as the Asian Development Bank, and the IMF.  Please see www.bicusa.org for more information.

BIC is seeking a full-time Admin and Finance Assistant for its Delhi-based South Asia Office.

The South Asia Office focuses on the World Bank Group (including the International Finance Corporation) and the Asian Development Bank.   BIC has strategic partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community based groups (CBOs) throughout the region, and a key component of the program is to strengthen civil society capacity for informed engagement on development issues in South Asia.

The Admin/Finance Assistant will report to the Regional Coordinator, South Asia.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day administrative needs and financial works of the office under the supervision of Regional Coordinator; including creating effective systems for office management.
  • Maintain inventory of office assets, order supplies, and be responsible for official procurement and operational needs.
  • Record BIC's daily expenses, maintain an organized copy of receipts, and produce quarterly expense statements in Excel, Tally and collaborate with BIC’s CPA.
  • Assist the BIC office with conference/meeting organization and related logistics
  • Look after logistical requirements of the office, which may include travel, accommodation, visa processing needs of BIC staff and official guests
  • Assist the Regional Coordinator in official correspondence, and provide photocopy, fax, and mail support.
  • Maintain technological functionality of office equipment (computers, fax, phone, etc), and ensure office cleanliness and up-keep.
  • Manage office mini-library and website.

Qualifications:

BIC seeks a dynamic, resourceful individual who has demonstrated commitment to social change and proven ability to work with people from all backgrounds.  S/he must be comfortable with written, email and phone communication and must be able to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a team.  Being technologically savvy is preferred.  Prior experience should include:

  • Graduate-level degree
  • Familiarity with Tally (or any accounting software) and prior knowledge of library maintenance will be an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in office administration & finance/accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Excel and Word

Time Period:  1 year (40 hours a week).
