Kazakhstan signs two memoranda of understanding (MOU) with the World Bank that focus on improving the efficiency of public finance management and increasing extractive industry transparency.
Kazakhstan’s participation in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), which it joined in October 2005, is a significant step toward payment and revenue transparency. The agreements state that the World Bank will provide technical assistance and advice to the Kazakh government in the two areas.
