World Bank appoints new Vice President of External Affairs

Marwan Muasher, a Jordanian national and former Foreign Minister, will replace acting VP, Kevin Kellems, as Vice President of External Affairs, Communications and United Nations Affairs.

Expected to being his appointment in March 2007, Muasher will be tasked with "strengthening World Bank relations with donor countries, civil society groups and multilateral partners." His previous posts include leading development strategies at the Jordanian Ministry of Planning, press advisor to the Prime Minister, Director of the Jordan Information Bureau in Washington, D.C. and Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan in charge of Reform and Government Performance. Muasher holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from Purdue University.
