Mr. Alkhalifa was appointed as the Alternate Executive Director for Saudi Arabia on May 30, 2006. Prior to the nomination he was the Advisor to the Executive Director from 2002-2006. Before he began his tenure at the World Bank Mr. Alfhalifa held numerous positions at the Ministry of Finance in Saudi Arabia. From 2000-2002 he was an Economic Advisor in International Economics-WTO Negotiations; 1999-2000 an Economic Advisor in International Economics-Arab Countries Department; and from 1989-1993 an Economic Researcher in International Economics-GCC Department. His first career post was as an Economic Researcher at the Saudi Arabian Fund for Industrial Development.
He was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He holds Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Miami (1995-1999), a M.A. in Applied Economics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas (1993-19950, and a B.A. in Economics from Ibn Saud University in Tiyadh, Saudi Arabia (1984-1988).
