Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Mr. Majnoni served as an adviser in the Finance, Private Sector and Infrastructure Unit of the Latin America and the Caribbean Department on the World Bank. He held the same position in the Financial Sector Department. In addition to these positions, Mr. Majnoni directed joint IMF-World Bank Financial Sector Assessment Program missions. He is also involved in the Basel Committee Core Principles Liasion Group as a representative of the World Bank.
Before his tenure at the World Bank, Mr. Majnoni worked as a deputy director in the Research Department and in the Department of Bank Supervision for the Bank of Italy.
Giovanni Majnoni earned degrees in economics from the University of Rome and from Columbia University. He has also been a visiting scholar at Princeton University.
