The Center for Environment and Development (CED), a Cameroon-based organization that has been active in monitoring the impacts of the Chad-Cameroon oil pipeline project, has issued a press release on the incident. CED notes, among other things, a concern regarding the poor communication and long delay in alerting the public and local authorities about the spill.
There are still few reports of an oil spill at the marine terminal of the Chad-Cameroon Pipeline. The spill is reported to have occurred on January 15, at 3:00 a.m., was detected at 7:00 a.m. and is said to have been contained by 11:00 a.m.
