Herman Wijffels was elected Executive Director on November 1, 2006. He represents The Netherlands, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, and Ukraine. Prior to joining the World Bank, Wijffels served as Chairman for the Executive Board of Rabobank Group, Utrecht, Netherlands and as the Chairman for the Economic and Social Council of the Netherlands in The Hague. He holds an M.A. in Economics from Tilburg University, Tilburg, Netherlands.
