Description:
The Latin America Program Intern will work with the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) program to provide support to our partners in Latin America and to strengthen our ability to work with and support civil society in the region. The Latin American regional work focuses on the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and World Bank Group (including the International Finance Corporation) and other regional development banks (BCIE, CAF, FONPLATA). Special attention is given to the role of MDBs in regional integration initiatives (IIRSA in particular). Some tasks associated with this internship include: researching MDB activities in Latin America and preparing written updates; updating and maintaining our contact database; providing logistical support for partners visiting Washington; assisting in general office operations; occasional translation; and updating BIC's website with the work of the Latin America program.
The Latin America Program Intern should possess excellent analytical, writing abilities as well as IT knowledge; preferably experience with database and websites. The intern should have demonstrated research skills and an interest in social justice issues. We are looking for someone who is flexible and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent English and Spanish spoken and written language skills are essential. We are accepting applications for part-time, 2-3 full days per week for a 3-6 month period starting at the beginning of January.

The Bank Information Center (BIC) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to empower citizens in developing countries to influence World Bank and other Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) activities in a manner that fosters social justice and ecological sustainability. BIC advocates for greater citizen participation, transparency, and public accountability.
The position is ideal for individuals seeking knowledge in the areas of international affairs—especially issues relating to multilateral institutions, development, international human rights, and the environment. The intern will work 2-3 days a week. This internship is unpaid.

BIC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that advocates for the protection of rights, participation, transparency, and public accountability in the governance and operations of the World Bank, regional development banks, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Asia Program Intern will work with the Program Manager to support civil society groups in the region. The regional work focuses on the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank Group (including the International Finance Corporation). The intern will especially focus on the ADB’s review of its Safeguards Policy. Some tasks associated with this internship include: researching and preparing written updates in response to information requests from partners; updating and maintaining the contact database; assisting in general office operations; and updating BIC's website with the work of the Asia Program.
