NTPC has released the first two chapters of the project's Environmental Assessment and Management Plan.
The Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) recently released and posted on its website the first two chapters of the project's Environmental Assessment and Management Plan (EAMP). They can be downloaded from NTPC's website for the Nam Theun 2 Project:
NTPC has promised to release the remaining chapters of the EAMP, as well as the Social Development Plan (SDP) and the Social and Environmental Management Framework and Operational Plan (SEMFOP) in the near future.
The ADB has told NGO representatives that they are working closely with NTPC and other donors involved to ensure that project stakeholders are given ample time to assess information on various aspects of the project. The ADB has said that all relevant information on the social and environmental impacts of the project will be provided to stakeholders for discussion in the next few months.
In addition, consultations with affected communities are scheduled to begin sometime in May.
